BATFE Not Done Yet

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (BATFE) illegal pursuit to ban the M855 rifle round is, reportedly, not caput. I previously pointed out that the ban itself was just a stepping stone to banning all 5.56 ammunition, and eventually all rifle ammunition (among other agendas).

In testimony before the Senate this week, BATFE Director B. Todd Jones stated that “any 5.56 round” is “a challenge for officer safety,” despite a continually deafening absence of significant, validated case evidence that supports this assertion.

I fail to understand why none of the media pundits, the firearms lobbying organizations, or the politicians are pointing out that the M855 does not qualify as an “armor piercing” round under 18 USC, and therefore does not require an exemption in the first place that BATFE can subsequently reevaluate and revoke.
